Bill MacDonald brings a wealth of consulting experience to Sandpiper customer projects and is responsible for overseeing delivery quality and managing the results of major client initiatives including data center moves, disaster recovery, archival requirements, business intelligence, virtualization, data migrations, security and IT strategic planning and architecture.

  • Specializes in local and remote Data Migration and Disaster Recovery solutions, installation of new software, and end user education in the use of vendor storage solutions.

  • Expert level in storage technology including DFSMS/ACS Routines DFSMS, DFHSM, and DFDSS
  • Technology experience includes:
  • Disk/DASD Storage Systems including EMC DMX4, STK/SUN  V2Xf, HDS USP, USPv and Victoria, IBM DS8100, DS8300 and DS8700.
  • SAN Technology.
  • Physical Tape and Virtual Subsystems such as Sun/STK and IBM 7740 VTS (Virtual Tape System) with IBM 3584 Library with TS1120 and 3590 tape drives
  • Various software that includes DFHSM, DFDSS, SMS routines, CA1 Tape management and OS Catalog Management

    • The design, documentation, and implementation of Recovery solutions based on IBM and CA technology (GDPS/XRC) and EMC and CA technology (GDDR).
    • Design & automation of solutions such as Business Continuity Manager (BCM), IBM Total Storage Expert and ESS Specialist.
