Data Center Moves

Based on Sandpiper's extensive ability to address all customer data center infrastructure components, workload configurations and facilities, we are uniquely positioned to ensure your upcoming data center move project is performed flawlessly.

We start by assessing your business workload requirements and platform/component inter-dependencies.  It is important to incorporate business schedules and to work around other projects that need to be coordinated in order to not disrupt the normal support you provide for your company.  Data Center move projects typically require 6-18 months to complete, and IT business support does not stop during this timeframe.  The ability to determine critical workloads, inter-relationships, component dependencies, logical-to-physical mappings and other information on a very short notice is imperative to the success of the project, and must be re-validated prior to each move event.  Sandpiper provides proprietary tools and appliances to achieve this, or we can work with software tools you may already have installed in order to build each move group.

We provide a complete mapping of the logical workloads to the physical environment, and ensure all information that is required to perform the move is available.  It is possible to move workloads logically/dynamically if the business requires short-to-zero downtimes, and we can assist with virtualization, consolidation and platform upgrade projects that may now be more desirable, rather than moving older equipment.

We are able to provide all of the vendor-certifications needed to maintain warranties and service-ability of the equipment after the physical move.  We coordinate with any vendor for any requirement task, such as ensuring spare parts are on-hand.

Sandpiper provides all of the coordination needed to choreograph the many moving parts that typically make-up a data center move project.  We have an extensive planning and mock-move process that ensures each resource is ready, tested and available when it is required, including all staff and vendor resources.  Our centralized and collaborative communication process during the move is geared towards ensuring all parties are kept well informed of the move status.
